How to Choose a Diamond Eternity Ring

A diamond eternity ring features natural diamonds set continuously around the full band or across the top half — a timeless symbol of enduring love. Popular as both engagement and wedding rings, eternity rings also make an elegant anniversary gift or personal indulgence. At Weiss, every eternity ring is set with GIA, IGI, or GGS-certified natural diamonds in platinum (PT900/PT950) or 18K gold in white, yellow, or rose.

Full Eternity vs Half Eternity

A full eternity ring features diamonds set all the way around the band, catching light from every angle. A half eternity ring has diamonds across the top half only — slightly more comfortable for everyday wear and generally easier to resize. Full eternity rings have limited resizing options due to the continuous stone setting; we recommend confirming your ring size carefully before ordering. If you're unsure of your size, contact us before purchasing and we'll advise.

Choosing a Setting Style

We offer four setting styles across our eternity ring collection. Prong setting maximises light exposure and brilliance, allowing the diamonds to shine freely from all angles. Channel setting creates a smooth, modern profile with stones set flush between two metal walls — sleek and secure. Bezel setting encases each stone in a fine metal rim for a minimal, contemporary look. Pavé setting features closely-set stones held by minimal metal, creating a surface of continuous, dense sparkle.

Choosing by Carat Weight and Colour Grade

The total carat weight of an eternity ring depends on the number and size of the stones set in the band. Our collection ranges from 0.2ct to 2.71ct total carat weight, covering a wide range of budgets and preferences. For colour, D–F grades offer a crisp colourless appearance with maximum brilliance. G–H grades deliver a near-colourless look with an excellent balance of quality and value — the sweet spot for most buyers.

Choosing a Metal

The metal you choose affects both the look of the ring and its durability over time. Platinum (PT900/PT950) is the most durable option and best complements the whiteness of colourless diamonds — the classic choice for fine jewelry. 18K white gold offers a similar appearance with a slightly lighter feel. 18K yellow gold brings a warm, classic elegance, while 18K rose gold creates a romantic, distinctive contrast against the diamonds.

Custom eternity rings are available to your preferred specifications — carat weight, diamond shape, metal, and setting style. Please note that recreating a sold-out piece at the original price may not always be possible. Contact us to discuss what's available.

Frequently Asked Questions

A full eternity ring has diamonds set all the way around the band, creating sparkle from every angle. A half eternity ring has diamonds set across the top half only, making it slightly more comfortable for daily wear and easier to resize. Both styles are available at Weiss in a range of carat weights, metals, and setting styles.
Half eternity rings can generally be resized. Full eternity rings have limited resizing options because the continuous stone setting makes adjustments difficult without disturbing the stones. We strongly recommend confirming your ring size before purchasing a full eternity ring. If you're unsure, contact us before ordering and we'll advise you.

Our eternity rings come with GIA, IGI, or GGS certification depending on the piece. Multi-stone eternity rings typically carry a GGS certificate, which is the standard for this type of jewelry. Pieces with a single larger center stone will carry a GIA or IGI certificate. The certificate type is listed on each individual product page.
